community building through jazz

Catskill Jazz Factory has been an especially stellar and opulent example of a jazz incubator and advocacy organization dedicated to nurturing young talent, sustaining jazz’s great careers and advancing jazz appreciation worldwide.

The Catskill Jazz Factory (CJF) is a "regional arts think-tank" and "formidable jazz incubator" (Hudson Valley One) founded in 2012 with an aim to support today’s best young jazz artists by offering year-round school workshops, mountaintop residencies, lectures, and world-class performances across the Hudson Valley and beyond. CJF presents unique programs in diverse spaces by partnering with educational facilities, arts organizations, and a variety of non-profits and businesses ranging from mountaintop donut shops and local high schools to recent concert series collaborations with the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, NY, and the New Generation Festival in Florence, Italy, to name a few.

Previous programs boast collaborations with a number of world-class musicians including Keyon Harrold, Aaron Diehl, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Brianna Thomas, Jazzmeia Horn, Dan Tepfer, and Marcus Roberts, among countless others.

The Catskill Jazz Factory is a program of 23Arts Initiative, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

A POWERFUL NEW ARTS MODEL WITH 3 CORE ELEMENTS:

  • Providing artist residencies and project support to a variety of young, top quality jazz artists to incubate world premiere programs

  • Introducing artists into villages, educational institutions and a host of venues to promote community building through jazz

  • Serving as a launch point for our artists to develop brand new, innovative projects to then present to larger and diverse audiences outside of the Hudson Valley / NYC area
